Meals
We will provide lunch on Seminar Day via a Graduate Student Luncheon where you
will meet informally with several of our Cellular and Molecular Physiology
Graduate Students. The luncheon begins at 1:05pm and ends at 2:00 p.m.
Someone will let you know when 2pm arrives so that you will not have to watch
the clock.
Seminar begins at 12 noon on Wednesday. Your talk, which should last no
more than 45 minutes, will be followed by
a Question-and-Answer
session, allowing the seminar to conclude at 1:00pm.
Although open to anyone on campus, these seminars are geared toward those
interested in various aspects of physiology research, including faculty,
research staff, and students.
Conference room set-up
The Tinsley-Harrison Tower 740 conference room is arranged auditorium style
with a slightly raised platform at one end of the room, facing several rows of
cushioned theatre seats that accommodate almost 70 people. There is a
podium on the presentation platform from which the LCD project is run.
As you enter the room, the podium is on the left, audience on the right.
There is an exit door at the rear, as well as a sound booth.
Auditorium equipment
The conference room is equipped with an LCD projector for use with PowerPoint
presentations. A VCR and overhead- and carousel-style projectors are
available upon request.
Presentation format
We can provide you with a PC laptop to use for your presentation. If you
use a non-PC formatted presentation, it would be best if you bring your
laptop, as we do not have a dedicated MAC for this room.
You have a few options about your PowerPoint presentation. You can:
> bring it on a ZIP disk
> bring it on a CD
> email it to
thenson@uab.edu ahead of time
> bring it on your own laptop
Please do what is most comfortable for you.
Note
Our projection system in this conference room is NOT compatible with software
run on the MS Millennium or MS 2001 Operating Systems.
